…Late evening into early morning, driving for hours on the back of a pick up truck (with 12 of my slinkiest friends)- in awe of how bright the stars shine.  They really look like diamonds twinkling in the black vast heavens.  The sunsets in Haiti are my “happily ever after” the ocean reaches far in front of me- the mountains stand proudly behind me, I cant believe I am here.  Standing on rocky ground in the moment of blues, pinks & greens all around me.
Flavor is all around, especially in the food (yummy)!
I am stationed at Canaan Orphanage ( canaanorphanage.com) ~ the brightest place in Haiti.  Learning from those who live for the best of all… how to live in real community.  At Canaan, we have worked on various projects- construction, education, and (where most of my time is spent) in the Clinic.  I LOVE working in the clinic, where all people from surrounding communities come for care.  Usually, I am the one mixing/compounding/delivering the drugs in the pharmacy.  My most loved program in Haiti is the MEDIKA MOMBA- which provides a medicine/food supplement to profoundly mal nourished babies/young children.  I STRONGLY encourage awareness & support to this program for the great life it bares.  For more information regarding the works of this program in Haiti, PLEASE visit lckornelsen.blogspot.com
As for other tales to this journey… everyday is a gift- not a fairytale.  Everyday is humbling with much growing.
FUN FACT about Haitian Peanut Butter… it has HOT CHILLIE PEPPERS in it!
