four bus rides, four plane and four days had Hsquad traveling for 96 consecutive hours; finaly we reached our Aisan destination.
It sure is hotter on the other side of the world- much hotter!
Currently, i am in the Phenom Penh – lodging in the YWAM base with other teams… God sure has a sense of humor, and i am reminded of that daily. Let me tell you how His “stand-up” is my learning opportunity:
my team, Koinonia had 8 ministry contacts fall through, some of which we were enthusasticly awaiting and others we were content with. SO… what do 6 twenty something “Americana”‘s do in a foriegn culture, living in an alley, perfuesly sweating at every breath, watching mass motion of people riding along on their ‘took-tooks’ in what may appear to be complete caious, meanwhile a couple of oranged garbed monks leiserly watch the monkey in the tree preparing to jump on the happy elephant standing near the caine barrel ? ? Laugh and enjoy the ride- this year the only consistant part is the change that will occur.
Koinonia has been A.T.L. ing it (stands for ask the Lord)
thrilled that when i a.t.l. …one day, i found myself among 8 of the most amazing children, they are called the “hello-kids” – they are the true spice of my life right now! Another day we found our whole team working in an orphange (Love in Action, an all girls home) which was one of my HAPPIEST moments on the race… and most regularly we have met a family, which we have been building friendships with- very warm hearted people.
In a seperate blog i hope to share with you the genuine joy of cultural differences.. it all began with an innocent card game, some may call rummy….
As a squad, we experianced the KhmerRough Museum & Killing Fields. This is a recent and major part to the asian culture, it is parellel to the political – social aspect of life… it was along the idea of the concentration camps during the holocust. This was much a benefit as a request for prayer in our ministries.
on a more enjoyable reportable, the food here is A M A Z I N G – yummy!
Thankfully, my favorite language is love and thats all i need to get on by in life….
in love
