Romania.  How do I describe my first few days in Romania adequately enough?  I’m not quite sure I can but I’ll try…

My first 3 hours in our village was spent mainly in the outhouse.  Something from dinner (from a gas station that our bus stopped at) did NOT agree with me so I got to break in our outhouse quickly.  It was lovely.  That passed but I’ve continued to be sick for most our time here so far.  Please be praying for that.  A few others on the team we’re working with (Silas) have been sick as well so pray for healing for all of us.  Being sick has shown me how gracious people are here.  Yesterday morning I didn’t go out with the rest of my team and some of the women of the village heard and came rushing over to the church to bring me medicine.  Then at lunch they made sure I ate about a block of cheese to help with my “stomach problems” (for lack of a better word).  ๐Ÿ™‚  I felt so loved that these people I just met 6 days ago would take time to make sure I felt better.

Our ministry so far has been a lot of fun.  It has been low key so far…the guys play soccer most days in the afternoon with all of the local guys so the girls all play with the children.  The kids are amazing and God is really breaking down any kid aversion I’ve had.  There is one girl, Vandana, (one of our pastor’s kids…see the photo below) who has attached herself to me.  I think God is working on me slowly…giving me one adorable child to love on me and open up my heart to the amazingness of these kids.  ๐Ÿ™‚   At nights we have a bible study which has been really good.  As far as we understand, the majority of the Christians here don’t go to church so we are trying to encourage this.  Keep this in your prayers.  From here on out we will be doing a VBS/sports camp, a women’s “spa day”, working in the school and putting on a soccer tournament.  I’m really excited to see how the next 2 weeks pan out and how God moves in this village!

That’s all I have for now…more to come.  Miss you all and love you tons…keep in touch, let me know how you all are doing!
Big hug…

P.S.  For all you coffee drinkers…Romanian coffee is AMAZING.  Everyone else thinks it is too strong but thank God I am a Flavin because I love it.  ๐Ÿ˜‰
