Guess what? It’s 2
days until my birthday. 🙂
number of course). Pretty sure my team
and squad is annoyed with it by now but they’re being good sports. It’s still weird that we’re in Ireland…Galway
to be exact. Galway is beautiful…right
on the ocean, cliffs only a short walk away, green everywhere. It kind of reminds me of Duluth actually
(large body of water, hills, greenness, lots of wind, you get the drift). The wind has been awful and it rains off and
on here. Last night was the worst and
kept up quite a few people with the noise. If you think about it, please pray for calm weather especially at night. Two weeks of not good sleep could be very
draining.

overwhelmed with emotions but after talking with my team and Selena (my coach)
I was feeling much better. The day ended
with a great worship service which really helped lift my spirit. God is going to do big things in me this year
and I’m excited to see Him move.
of work. Our contact is actually a missionary
from Texas who has been here 2 years. He
works with one of the local churches and does a lot of outreach in the Galway
community. Their church just finished
with a huge fashion show which I’m very bummed to have missed. They seem to really do out of the box
ministries which will be very cool to be a part of. We’re going to be the “Green Team”, doing odd
jobs around the city. We’ll be doing
projects at 2 local single mother’s homes, helping clean up the part of town
where the gypsies live and do a book project (get books ready to be dropped off
at homes throughout the community). We’re also going to attend the young adults small group on Friday night
and attend their church on Sunday.
After we learned all about Irish culture and what kind of
projects we will be doing during our time we set out to Galway (we’re actually
just out of Galway, in Salthill) to clean up graffiti. It’s actually really hard and a lot of it
wouldn’t budge but we had some success and were able to talk to some Irish
about why we’re cleaning their city. We
will be here for 2 weeks and fly to Romania on the 31st or the 1st.
The coffee here is amazing…a regular coffee to them is an
Americano to us. YUM! My tent already smells because I didn’t know
how to put on my rain fly properly and got water in it. Hopefully the car air freshener I bought works. We’ve had normal toilets and warm showers
(that are only 5 minutes long for one euro) so no horror stories there
yet! Our food budget is pretty tight so
if anyone knows of cheap meals that you don’t need a stove or microwave for le
t
me know…the poor boys seem to be constantly hungry and I’m sure we’ll all get
sick of granola bars and PB&J soon.

Please be praying for the ministries we will be doing over
the next 2 weeks and for all of the Irish we will be in contact with. Pray that our actions reflect God’s love, not
only our words. Pray also for my team
and the bond we are beginning to form. Pray for that we continue to grow closer and that we are able to
encourage and build each other up.
Love you all and I better be getting some birthday wishes on
Wednesday! 😉
