God asked Me,
Will you rest in Me?!
I said,” God I try to rest so much and I just feel lazy I want to do things for you. I want to serve you. Tell me what to DO.
He gentle said again,
Rest in me!
I said,” God I am? Am I? I almost fell asleep God I am resting!
Silence.
I said,” I am ready to talk God what do you want to work on in me, I will give anything I need to you everything its all yours, I will DO anything you want” and if you know me I talk and talk and talk.
**Side dish working on being a better Listener**
I hear God’s voice in the brief silence I give Him, He says,” Rest in me!
I say, “well I am look? how much longer? how much longer? Can I DO anything? I must sound like a child going on a long car ride. I was thinking all this time I spend wanting God to show me and He is. Just not what I want to hear! Just like a child hearing the parent answer that they are not there yet? Keeps asking the same question. The Lord is teaching me to Listen, to His voice, and what He has to say to me. I know His voice just like a child knows their parents voice. I realize how often I keep asking the same questions because I don’t like the answer He gave me.
What does it look like to Rest in God?
If you are like me and have a million thoughts always going on and a busy brain that seems to spin in circles you can probably relate. You might spend a long time just thinking about what Resting in God looks like, but never do it.
God showed me that resting in Him is not Doing it is Being! He is asking me to spend time with Him, only Him. To quite my thoughts and to sit in awe of Who He is!! To soak up His presence and Let Him consume me and refresh me, emerse and embrace me with His Love.
Then, because so many
people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to
eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and
get some rest.” Mark 6:31
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29
