Wow! We are actually in our first country, the Dominican Republic. It has been a whirl wind of plane rides, bus rides, and sleeping on floors…but we are so thankful to have finally made it.
The DR is beautiful. From white sand beaches and blue water to lush, green mountains. They play their music loud and love to sit in front of their houses, as to not miss the opportunity to socialize. The locals are very friendly…even though it appears a huge mob of Americans has invaded their small town.
I have to keep this first blog short…just wanted to let everyone know that we are safe and enjoying our time here. This coming weekend our group will split into our smaller teams and travel seperately to our own ministry sites. I was so excited to find out that my team will be going up into the mountain side to live in a more rural community. So i lost my Colorado mountains, yet gained a new terrain to love here!
