Cheese, Coffee, and Conversation
Today was probably one of the best days of the Race for me. It started by combining two of my favorite things, baking and hearing someone’s testimony…in one of my favorite places, the kitchen. Over breakfast, a woman here at the YWAM base shared with me her powerful testimony of the past three years of her life. It was full of restoration, listening, stepping out in faith, laying down of material possessions and finally the clarity that we all seem to be wanting from the Lord. i came away

encouraged to keep waiting patiently for my own clarity from the Lord in regards to my next step after the Race, knowing that simply resting in His presence is time well spent.
The baking part comes in in the form of crates upon crates of apples!! What started as applesauce day- cutting out

bad spots, coring and chopping up apples to cook down into a delicious mixture …turned into ‘what all can we think of to do with apples’ day!! My culinary brain kicked in, and i had so much fun buzzing around the kitchen feeling quite at home. Moving around the kitchen, busy with multiple things at once reminded me how much i love that “dance” that i used to perform everyday for the last 3 years.
Along with the applesauce, the day produced turnovers and the beginnings of an apple crisp!! The turnovers will be used for a community get together that the YWAM base does every Tuesday night to reach out to the surrounding community. The team will hopefully also be able to bake a few more items

tomorrow to contribute to the gathering.
The evening ended with a traditional Swiss dinner party. One of the school leaders invited the team over for fondue!! He walked us through the entire process of making the cheese concoction and answered all of our many questions about the Swiss culture. Our time with Thomas quickly revealed that we were there for more than just good food…but good conversation as well. We sat for over an hour soaking up the wisdom of a man who has spent 23 years on the mission field, working with YWAM. His love for the Lord is more than evident and he was so

willing to share all of his love and adoration for the Lord with us. I felt like a sponge, absorbing every drop of wisdom and encouragement. He spoke of honoring and glorifying God, not only knowing the depth of God but knowing his length and width and height, and how in Phil 2 God tells of how he had to pour out all of Himself to become man…the God who created the vast universe, became human…
I felt so encouraged today…encouraged to wait, encouraged to pray more and listen more, encouraged to ask God more, encouraged to remember that having faith can be the most fun adventure of all!!
