Last weekend we, along with YWAM and a local prayer organization, organized a day of prayer to correlate with The Call in Washington DC. It lasted from 8am to 8pm and we prayed for America. For the media, the government, the youth in schools, and other moral issues facing the USA.
Hours were spent crying out to God and interceding for the USA, for Guatemala,
some Guatemalan shoe-shine boys joined in the worship and prayer by waving flags and drawing pictures.
There were stations set up around the prayer room to help direct prayer toward specific needs, like the church, the family, schools, and the media.
The event was held in the Higher Grounds Coffee Shop, and the front of the cafe was converted into a Journey prayer room, that took you through several stages and types of prayer, including confession, thanksgiving, praise and intercession.
in the confession area we had sand to write your sins in, and then see them wiped away. You could also burn your sins, and see the ash disappear. Or you could write your sins on your hands and wash them clean.
In the thanksgiving room you could thank God for answered prayers, and participate in communion.
Worshiping and praise happened by drawing and painting.
It was a day full of praise and petition. One that changed lives and opened minds.
