A week in Antigua has provided us with numerous adventures. These adventures include, learning how to “set up ministry” with local contacts, how to cram 10 people and sound equipment into a range rover, how to efficiently sort and catalog anything from clothes to medical supplies, how to rent an apartment in Guatemala, and how to Trust Him to show you where He wants you.
The vast amount of ministry we have to choose from is intimidating and overwhelming. We are praying and evaluating the things to decide where God is working and where He wants us to join in.
We have connected with a church through the YWAM missionaries and have been working with them this week. Iglesia del Camino has begun to collect clothes and medical supplies for future clothing drives and medical clinics. They also had craft/movie night in a nearby village at which we entertained about a dozen children and showed the Christian film “Facing the Giants.”
We have also been blessed to be working with the YWAM missionaries and their coffee shop, Higher Grounds. Their ministry is a beautiful one, and a large one. There are lots of “pots” on the YWAM “stove”, which lets some of the little things fall by the wayside, so hopefully over the next month we will be able to help them in various ways.
Next week we will meet with a man named Dick Rutgers to learn more information about working with Hermano Pedro hospital/orphanage/nursing home. He also has a wheelchair ministry in the nearby villages.
On August 16
The Call is happening in
Washington D.C. Many people in the Antigua Christian community are interested in taking part of this event and praying for
America. We will be helping set up this event satellite in
Guatemala. I have no idea what this looks like, but seems like an interesting opportunity.
Things are continually coming into clearer focus, as God turns our hearts to specific areas of Antigua. He is at work here.
In other big news, we moved into a 2 bedroom apartment in Central Antigua today and are THRILLED. Photos/video coming soon!
