Between Training Camp in October and Launch in January, I was in a place where I had a taste of something, but I was waiting for that something to blossom. I had met the people I’ll be working with in the next year, and I’d been completely broken and exposed only to be made malleable by the Creator. The difficult part in this is that I was sent home for two and a half months before actually getting to go do all these incredible things they told us about.

As I took my “last shower” in the comfort of my own home, I recollected these last two and a half months between Training Camp and Launch. I had made it my mission to not be complacent in this time of waiting. Thus, I was able to connect with old friends as we said our see-you-laters while spending quality time with each other.

I met people I would have never met otherwise, let alone ask them to join me in my fundraising. I faced difficult tasks as I went out of my comfort zone to fundraise. I was even able to fundraise while serving those in need simultaneously (story to come).

I can already see how this intensive discipleship program and mission trip is already changing my life, and I’d like to share with you some thoughts during my “last shower”:

I’ve learned to see things a different way as I’ve taken the time of day to get to know new people.

I’ve learned the importance of maintaining my relationship with the Father and going to Him first.

I’ve begun to care more about my friends and the important of maintaining those relationships.

I’m learning to cherish my family a different and loving way.

I’ve learned that I have a lot of stuff and begun the process of purging my unneeded possessions.

I’m learning the importance of voicing my views and feelings.

I’m learning to put my thoughts into words.

I’m learning that not everyone sees things the way I do and respecting that I don’t always see things the way they do.

I’ve learned that being on mission is not the “cool” thing, but it’s what we’re called to do.

I’ve learned that not everyone is called to world missions, but everyone is called to be missional.

And I’ve learned that those who give and pray are just as important as those who go and do.
