It’s so hard to believe that we are in month 3 of the World Race and only have one more month left after this in Central America. I am happy to say though that my Spanish is getting better, but sad to say that my English is getting worse. I am getting use to cold showers, not always having running water, rain, and loud music everywhere all the time.

We made it to Honduras, in fact we have been here for a few days longer than a week. God has already shown up in some miraculous ways.

God really showed up in a big way on our travel day from Nicaragua to Honduras. The travel day was supposed to take about 6-8 hours to go from Chinandega, Nicaragua to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. We made it to the border in 2 hours and then spent 4 at the border trying to leave Nicaragua all because some of our squad had guitars and they had to be inspected. Then as we keep driving, we were stopped by the police and they boarded the bus, which was pretty scary. As we were at the police station our bus broke down, and we had to stay at the police station until they determined what the problem was and realized that they couldn’t get a part to fix it. So, a new bus was called and it came and picked us up after about 5 hours being at the bus station. Most of us had started to sleep on the ground in the parking lot as it was almost midnight by the time the new bus picked us up. This was a miracle because Honduras is a dangerous country, and December is the most dangerous month to be here. However, God worked in that situation so that we were broken down at a police station instead of on the side of the road somewhere completely helpless. The bus we were on didn’t have air conditioning so we couldn’t just sit on it not moving for a long period of time. So God had the breakdown happen at a place where we weren’t on the road, and made us much safer in the middle of the travel day.

So after the travel day that lasted almost 24 hours, we arrived at our ministry thoroughly exhausted at about 5am. Our host was gracious enough to let us sleep in the morning we got here and give us Sunday after church off too.

This month ministry is pretty diverse. My team is paired up with another team here at Heart of Christ. We rotate through working around the mission (cleaning, dishes, and general house chores), construction of the new children’s home, working in the classrooms with the kids, and Christmas preparation duties.

This ministry is a refuge for women who have been abused in any way, and its also a children’s home for children conceived through rape and incest. The ministry also partners with other ministries to give thousands of children in Honduras, Christmas gifts. I actually got to go and help distribute gifts the other day, and the children that received gifts were the last kids in the village that wouldn’t receive gifts for Christmas. Its awesome to get to see kids and families shown the love of Christ in such a simple way.
