When asked what is my favorite color I have to say green. I love it. Its peaceful, full of life, color of nature, happy etc.. My teammates and I played a game where you are asked a few questions and the way you respond coordinates with a specific thing. So I was asked my favorite color and why and I gave my answer like above and it was said at the end of the game that color is how you see yourself.
I liked that. I think I am peaceful or calm, full of life, I love nature, and I’m happy, well most of the time. I started to notice lots of my clothes are green and my favorite thing is being outside in green lush nature. I see God in every different specie of plant and the vibrance of life in the rich colors of greens.
Honduras is a country of rolling green hills. I havent been to Ireland but I think Honduras could be comparable. On our 21 hour bus ride to Honduras I was hot and annoyed in the back of the bus but when I looked out at the land I couldnt help but smile and say “Wow God! This is beautiful. ” I focused on the beauty and I even found myself praying “I really hope we are going to be living on a farm.” I stopped myself and said whoawatch out might get that and it could be really bad. But I still daydreamed of green hills, horses, a farm.
When we drove onto a dirt road with pastures on each side I got excited! We pulled up to a farm house on a hill with lots of green land around. We were surrounded by huge hills. Our hosts Darlene and Darrel Dakin came out taking pictures of our arrival and said “Hey Yall” in a country accent! I was at home. Praise be to God! He is so good.
We are tenting in the backyard and there are two steep hills behind the house. I hiked up both of them with my squadmates. I felt a weird feeling of home. There was thick brush and thorns and trees but I felt like I was walking through the woods as a child, not really knowing where I was going but excited to be out there. We hiked to the top of each and both had gorgeous views. The first looked out over the valley the house was in. Green fields sectioned off by lines of trees and different plants. All is green below. The second view was of Talanga the closest town. It was a beautiful view but I loved the other one best because it is God’s creation, well I guess it is man made but God creates the beauty of every living thing, we just organize it a little more 🙂
During prayer and other times I always seem to be thinking about or seeing green plants, trees, flowers etc.. Well this morning I got up and looked out my tent and of course it was a beautiful sight and during my quiet time I read Isaiah 40:6-8
“All people are like grass,
and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
because the breath of the Lord blows on them.
Surely the people are grass.
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever.”
I thought that was perfect for what I had been seeing and thinking about. God has been making a new creation in my helping my faith blossom. I was told that if you dont feel like you hear God picture you as soil. God is planting seeds in and one day God will say grow and you will hear him and will blossom.
I could go on and on with imagery of plants and gardens etc…
But think about what is your favorite color and what could that tell you about yourself or even God? Why do you like that color what could you be drawn to that you didnt realize?
I felt so blessed to be serving in the beautiful country of Honduras.
