I am so excited to get this adventure started yet I have just started my fundraising with a little over 5 months to go till I leave. The scary part is that I have deadlines I have to reach by September and December for me to be eligible to go. Here's what my donation schedule looks like:
- $150 Deposit – Due 7/15/2013 (2 weeks after your acceptance date.)
- $3,500 – Due 9/28/2013 (2 weeks before Training Camp)
- $7,500 – Due 12/18/2013 (2 weeks prior to your trip)
- $11,000 – Due 4/1/2014 (End of 3 months on the field)
- $15,500 – Total Due 7/1/2014 (End of 6 months on the field)
Whew that's alot to take in isn't it? I have all faith that the Lord will provide. I know I am surrounded by amazing people in my life. If you are one of my amazing people would you do me a favor and share my story with someone who may not know me. I am realizing this adventure is one to share with everyone.
I went to Dicks Sport Goods and Jesse Brown Outdoors this weekend just to take a look at backpacks, sleeping bags, tents etc… I'm trying to wrap my mind around those things being my "home" for the next year. I found myself getting so giddy when people asked what kind of trip are you taking. I was looking at the Container store at travel stuff and was telling the salesclerk a little about my trip like how I'd be gone a long time. After he was done helping me, a woman spoke behind me "Excuse me, I don't mean to be nosy but what kind of trip are you going on?" I got to tell her all about The World Race. She gave me tips on traveling and shared some knowledge about finding backpacks. She wished me luck and we went about shopping. Who knew shopping could be a way to share part of my story.
