Serving is more than what we have to do, but it’s what we are called to do. Not only this month, but life in general! We are called to serve DAILY! I am learning the hard way how to be a Mary, rather than a Martha. Not just serving and doing, but receiving and being! I have grown up doing everything possible, and now, not being able to “do” it all even though I want to is hard…its hard to just sit and be still and not be able to serve in all things at all times…it’s about learning how to receive!

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men,
because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does,
whether slave or free.
Ephesians 6:7-8

Serving the Squad is one thing…serving the team is another. Being able to meet the needs of those around us in more ways than we are asked to do, but once again seeking out the opportunities to serve beyond what we often see. It’s serving through prayer, encouragement, actions, words, love and more! Serving goes beyond the simplistic “duties,” it seeks the heart and needs of others!

…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
and whoever wants to be first must be your slave –
just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life
as a ransom for many!
Matthew 20:26-28

If you want to be great, in God’s Kingdom, learn to be a servant of all!

Learning to be a servant is what God has called us all to do. We take our example from the greatest servant of all – Jesus! He served and was rebuked. He served and was condemned. He served and was rejected. He served through it all! He served and gave His life for the sake of others. A servant gives. A servant is devoted, helpful and follows the call and will of the master!

We are ALL servants of God! How often do we take action and serve Him above others. What about serving others above ourselves? We are called to love Him, worship Him and serve Him!

…to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to obey His commands,
to hold fast to Him and to serve Him with all your heart and all your soul.
Joshua 22:5
