A common question asked by people all over the world is who am I!? Who you are is your identity
“the fact of being who or what a person or thing is and the characteristics determining this.”

This month, my identity has been redefined. It has been stripped, challenged and now embraced. It has taken me to new levels and opened my eyes to the things unseen.

My identity is not determined by what I do or do not do. It is not determined by the person to the right or to the left of me, my parents, my friends or my status. It’s not about pleasing those around me or getting recognition for the things I’ve done. My identity is found in Christ, and Christ alone.

Before this month began, when we were at debrief, my team was challenged to write letters to ourselves about our identity. We knew it would be a hard month with the beautiful women we would be ministering to night after night, the gorgeous men who flock the streets searching for anything but the truth, and the lies that would be trying to tear us down!

Tonight, I was able to read the letter I wrote myself. As much as this was written to me from me, it read as a letter from God. It couldn’t have been more perfect or more timely and captured my heart like a love letter romances the recipient!

My beloved Jenni,

I want you to know that you no longer have to doubt who you are. Your identity is found in Christ. Everything about you is dear to His heart. Your beauty is astounding. Proverbs 31 reminds you that you are worth far more than rubies – and you know how valued and precious rubies are.

I want you to know that you are no longer have to feel rejected. You are first and foremost accepted by Christ. He chose you! You are His child. His daughter. A princess in His Kingdom. He is the King and only the finest things are desired by kings – and you are desired.

Jenni, I want you to not only believe these words, but accept and live these words. You have so much to offer this world, this team, squad and the people you serve. You have a strength like no other. Your confidence is found in Christ. It does not matter what you wear or how you look – you are found radiant. Your father is proud of you! You are cherished in more ways than you realize. You no longer need to dwell on your insecurities – your security is found in Christ. He will protect you and provide for you.

Stop believing the lies that the enemy continues to throw at you. You know the truth and the truth sets you free. Look to the truth, which is found in the word. Gravitate to what is true, noble, right, pure, trustworthy and lovely. You are loved for who you are, not for what you do or do not do. Say it to yourself and mean it!

I AM LOVED! I AM VALUED! I AM FORGIVEN!
I AM ACCEPTED! I AM BEAUTIFUL! I AM UNIQUE! I AM WORTHY!
Repeat it. Know it. Believe it. Live it.

Jenni, there is so much more to you than what the eyes can see. You are capable of far more than you allow yourself to do or be. Remember to just be. You are you. There is nobody like you anywhere else in this world. You have been divinely created. You have a plan and a purpose. Embrace what God has set before you.

Your identity is not based on status or success. You are you. You are a masterpiece. You are somebody. You are a light in the darkness. You are created in the image of God. You are a child of God – a woman of the Lord most High! Your possibilities are endless! Be you. Be real. Be wise. Trust Him. Love others. Encourage. Not on your strength, but through His, you will overcome.

Know that I am proud of you! I am pleased with how far you have come and the changed that have been made. I know this is just the beginning of great and mighty things!

I love you, for you!
