I remember the night it rained. Being inside meant I was dry, but I couldn’t help thinking about the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS that were spread out around the Nation in tents and tarps, getting drenched by the rain – and it was just approaching the beginning of their rainy season. My heart broke for them.

It fell on the last day of the three day National Prayer and Fasting called to order by the President of Haiti. To be there in the Country for that moment, was the most amazing, angelic thing I have experienced. A Nation “grieving” yet rejoicing and giving praise to God. After our day of ministry being apart of a Haitian church service and soaking in the presence of God, we joined together and prayed – thanking God for what was said and done during the weekend. We called out to God to listen to the prayers of the Nation. We asked God to anoint the land. We prayed in faith, knowing that there would be a change the next day.

You heavens above, rain down righteousness; let the clouds shower it down.
Let the earth open
wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness grow with it; I, the
LORD, have created it.

Isaiah 45:8

We no sooner finished praying when it began to rain. As much as I cried out for the people living in the tent cities, my heart leaped. God heard our prayers. He let it reign. Not just physically, but spiritually.

He is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain that brings the grass from the earth.’
2 Samuel 23:4

The rain soaked into the ground. It saturated the earth. It was amazing. It was like the presence of God was felt and that a shift took place in Haiti. I can’t explain it. God quenched the thirst of this Nation. The rain brought forth healing and comfort. It washed away what was and prepared the ground for what is to come. It was beautiful. It was refreshing. It’s a rain that created change will produce growth! Rain makes things new…

The nourishment of rain brings new life – even to the heart.

As we got up the next morning, Pastor Christian was singing praises and looked to us, saying “I feel the Holy Spirit in this place. Something is different. Praise the Lord.” An answer to our prayers. As we drove through Port-au-Prince, piles of garbage had been gathered. People were working together to clean up the streets, making traffic chaos – but that didn’t matter. Haiti is alive and has risen up!

The video below is a glimpse of what I witnessed and experienced during the National Day(s) of Prayer. It’s powerful and real. God is reigning in Haiti!
