I have always only dreamed of going to Africa, but never really thought it would happen…and now here I sit, a few hours away from boarding a plane to South Africa to travel to Mozambique where I, along with the rest of my Squad, will be spending the month of June!
Not only am I heading to Africa, I get to go with a team mate that I’ve known longer than anyone else on the race…my dear friend and fellow Canadian, Melissa Betz. We have been talking about this day since we met each other…playing soccer in Africa with orphans…and more specifically, her dream or being in Mozambique working with Heidi Baker at Iris Ministries…and now, both have come true, and we will get to experience it together. To watch the tears flow, when we found out where our ministry location for the month would be, filled our hearts with joy and we knew that this was all orchestrated by our loving Heavenly Father!
To believe that this marks a new season of the race is something I am still trying to grasp. We say farewell to our beloved Squad leader, Jenny Brown, say good-bye to a much loved Continent – ASIA – and say good-bye to our old selves and teams….yet saying good-bye means being able to say hello to new possibilities and changes. New team leaders are in place. New Squad leaders (Jen Denman, Tonya Norman and Dave Brown) are on the ball. New team mate…Jennifer Myers…we love her dearly. She will be missed on her previous team, Spectacle, but know she will be an amazing blessing on the GW’s!
This is the beginning of month 6 on the race…5 are behind us, meaning
that we are at our half way point – already. Where has the time gone. We just finished another race day around the massive city of Bangkok. We look forward to what is ahead and know that in order to grow, we need the changes and lessons that are constantly being thrown our way.

The past few days at debrief have been emotional and exhausting in ways I cannot explain – but I know that GOD is in control and works all things out for the GOOD! I am ready to leave Asia and move onto Africa. Ready to leave my old self behind and be transformed.
