One thing I have noticed about Lesotho, something I have grown to love and appreciate, is the fact that they don’t want to see anyone hurting, in need or starving. They will all give what they can to those around them to take them out of the “despair” someone may be living in. To me, they represent true community, and it is a blessing to be able to see it and be a part of it!

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Acts 20:35

I have never felt more humbled than I did at church the Sunday we were asked to speak. To be at a church filled with Christians eager to learn more about God, about us and to want to serve Him wholeheartedly was amazing…but that was just the beginning!

After we all shared what God laid on our hearts, it was time for the offering. Unknown to us, the pastor started to explain the offering, about giving in abundance and watching God bless what was given – and that even though it goes without notice to the church body, they were so blessed by us being there, that they wanted to bless us – so their morning offering was handed over to us. We sat there in shock, with tears, trying to reiterate what was just said.

We went expecting nothing, except to share Jesus with those at church. We left being filled with the spirit, full of joy, laughter and excitement, and being humbled, touched, blessed and honoured beyond words – and with this love offering!

This is a church body that recently became their own church. They live in a Country that doesn’t have much – where poverty is “expected” and most people live on less than a dollar a day. Yet, they reached deep into their pockets and hearts, and gave all they could, and more.

How is it that those who have little can so easily give much, yet those who have much often have such a hard time giving even a little!? This isn’t just in regards to tithes and offerings. This is giving in every aspect – time, money, service, relationships, food, grace…and even God – however God calls!

Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having al that you need, you will about in every good work As it is written: He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.

2 Corinthians 9:6-9

I had recently listened to a podcast about stewardship and how God wants our first-fruits, not our last resorts. How He can ask so little of us, yet we hold so tightly to what He has blessed us with – that doesn’t even belong to us since all comes from Him. The amount someone gives may seem small, yet we do not see the heart of the matter and know that they have gone above and beyond, giving more than they have to bless those around them. God calls us to give what he blesses us with and to give with a cheerful heart. Do we trust Him enough to give what we have for others, and being obedient to Christ?

God touched my life through one small and simple act. This is just one of the many ways God has blessed us this month. We have learnt to trust him and watch him multiply the things around us – just because we are willing to live out our faith, be obedient and walk humbly with our God!

What about you!? Are you willing to give all you can give for the sake of others!? When God calls you to give – answer him. By being obedient, He will provide and bless you in abundance!

Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
