Leaving Durban to head to Lesotho August 1st was the beginning of a new adventure. We had no idea how we were getting to the border, across the border or to the p
lace God has called us to be. We knew we had a ride to Sani Pass, a few miles from Lesotho, yet nowhere near where we needed to go! Yes…it was near the Lesotho border, yet not the one we needed to use to cross!
Sani Pass is a familiar area for backpackers, tourists and locals to come and see God’s beauty…it’s mountainous and full of adventure. I can officially say that I have camped – in my tent! Jenn and I and all of our stuff…and we still had space. It was amazing. They were calling for snow in the evening, but praise the Lord it never did – it just rained all night! We stayed dry. We had a few hours of sleep, yet were anxious to leave to get to our final destination…praying our way to Lesotho!
We had two jeeps pick us up mid-morning and drive us to the nearest city towards the border crossing that we needed to cross. Even knowing how hard it is to get to Lesotho and drive through Lesotho, we were still pressing in to getting to the exact location God laid on our hearts. It’s an adventure, journey, and risk!
As we were on the road, we were praying and talking with our driver(s) about getting to Mt. Moorosi. Our driver was a blessing and kept calling people he knew. Before we got to our next destination, we had a vehicle waiting for us! Negotiating a price became a hassle…but once again, God came through and blessed us, so after unloading one vehicle and reloading another, we were off travelling again. We were now on our way to the border…still hoping and praying that we’d be able to get across the border before the border closed at 4pm. The vehicle we were in could only take us to the border, so we continued to pray that we’d be able to have another vehicle available in Lesotho to meet us at the border and be willing to take us to our final destination – the Moorosi Chalets.
By the time we arrived at the border, we had another ride on the way. As we were waiting to switch vehicles, yet again, it started to sleet…! What an arrival to a new Country…we couldn’t see anything other than the dark clouds that were covering the mountains! Crossing borders was hassle free. We realized that we got a break, as Custom’s officers usually want to search everyone’s bags, however they didn’t want to hold us back and trusted us…they also didn’t want to waste their time, as the border was about to close, and they wanted us to get on the road! They were so excited to meet us, and I was told I am the first Canadian they have met! How exciting – God blessed us and has guided our way!
It was a snug fit in our last leg of the journey.
The road was windy – but thankfully paved as we drove over mountains and . It was another lengthy drive and was dark by the time we arrived, but we were home! We were only to have two huts between the 9 of us, but got blessed with 4, so we were each able to spread out and have our own beds! We had no idea of the beauty that surrounded us until we woke up the following morning! Having faith and praying throughout the day got us to our destination.
This was just the beginning of our ATL month, and already we have seen God work in miraculous ways, just getting us to where we felt called to go. Never stop asking the Lord in all things…He knows!
