someone from my Squad. It’s sad…I miss them already. Living in
community, sharing with each other, praying and doing things that most
people would think is uncomfortable! What a month. A month of blessings
in ways I never could have imagined!
ready to depart on another adventure. By now, you are well aware that I
am off to Haiti. I leave in the morning – February 7th. I return
February 17th, with the rest of my team. God has been opening doors and
giving me divine appointments. I am sitting at Vanessa’s house – one of
the girls going with me to Haiti. It’s a blessing to be here, to meet
her and her family, and to share stories and our hearts with each other
before we debark on this journey.
placed a man on the train that kept me company. His name is John. He’s
homeless. He rides the MARTA to keep himself warm, occupied, and out of
trouble. I didn’t have much, but gave him what I could – a granola bar
and bottle of water. We talked. We laughed. He had food stuck in his
beard. He didn’t have the best aroma. He swore. But there was more to
him than that…it went deeper than his “appearance.” He was
searching…you could tell that the words God was giving me was
spurring something inside of him…
he made some comment about “Christians” and the dangers of going to
Haiti. He asked me if I was afraid. Without hesitation, my reply was
that the only fear I have going into Haiti is the fear of the Lord. God
has me going for a reason. I may not know what it is at the moment –
but I know that God has a purpose and a plan and is directing my every
step.
in the cold for 30minutes waiting for a ride? Why that seat – where I
was able to meet, talk to and pray for a man in need. Why today?
I encouraged him to change his ways. John said that he wants to start
living by the spirit, not by the fleshly desires. What took place on
the 45minute MARTA ride was an encounter with a stranger. A stranger
that once again made me realize I am in the right place. I am where God wants me to be and needs me to be. I am his vessel.
haven’t even left the United States and lives are still being touched.
Please pray for me and my team (Kim Jerkins, Vanessa Underwood, Melinda
Nelson and myself) as we travel to the DR tomorrow. We will be staying
at the YWAM base until the 9th, when we will pile into a truck full of
supplies and cross the border into Carrefour, Haiti. God is with us,
protecting us and providing a way where there seems to be no way.
