Another day. Another adventure. This one was unexpected and full of TONS of laughs, pain, tears, prayers and adventures! It was not a “typical” day…then again, when is it typical on the World Race!?
Our day began early…yet later than planned. Actually, we have learnt to not expect leaving and showing up at certain times – it just doesn’t happen. We show up and wait. So, leaving Azua for the leadership retreat at 8:30 turned into leaving at 9:30, then stopping for gas and at the market and a few other necessities. After a much longer drive than expected, we arrive at “the farm.” We had a relaxing, yet intense day of worshipping, hiking, cooking yuca (a root that is much like a potato) over a campfire, quiet time with God and prayer! The day went longer than “expected” but when God moves, who’s really worried about time? If time becomes our focus, our hearts are in the wrong place!
A few things to note:
*the farm is not a typical farm…if we had of known it would have been a foothill of a mountain, I would have brought my running shoes to go hiking. It was more like a clearing in the woods…super sweet and peaceful!
Dominican’s…at least I knew them!
*a schedule never stays the same…we had a rough idea, and that’s the way it stays, as it’s such a go with the flow mentality and everyone is so laid back! It’s taking a while for some of the team to get used to being flexible, but it adds a new dynamic and excitement to every day and experience!
*Language is not a barrier when it comes to God and prayer! What an amazing, intense and blessed experience to pray over the church leadership team. God gave us words to speak over them. He opened their eyes and hearts and they were filled with HIS glory! It was a touching few hours. relationships were strengthened. Our faith was stretched. We were overjoyed.
I find it hard to put into words the feeling that swept over me today! I felt God’s presence in the middle of his magnificent creation, speaking life into people and letting God move! Thank you Lord that even though we couldn’t understand Spanish and they couldn’t understand English that your presence and glory was made known! Love is universal – and it was felt today! In so many ways!
Through all the emotions of the day, we give you praise, Lord! Let your glory fall and fill our hearts!
