I don’t know whether it’s Cambodia or Asia that I’ve fallen in love with…time will tell as I continue on around Asia! This month has been amazing. A month to remember.
This past week, we all gathered together in Siem Reap at the Prum Bayon Hotel…2 people to a room. AIr Conditioning. a Pool. Breakfast buffet. Restful days. This was Debrief. The end of another month – Cambodia! What a blessing to all be together to laugh, share, worship and pray through what God did this month. There are lots of things to remember and cherish, and other things to leave at the door and not pick up or hold onto for another month.
My team

, along with most of the Squad, was truly blessed to have an amazing Tuk-tuk driver in Phnom Penh, Dan, who “chauffeured” us around the city at all hours of the day…to and from ministry, the internet cafe, shopping and so much more. We all fell in love with this man…a man of God who was a willing servant with a humble heart. He joined my team many days for ministry. He became part of our team and family this month, and was a blessing to us in more ways than words can describe. Our ministry was more than Tree of Life…it was also to Dan, to encourage Him in his faith and bless him like he blesses others!
University of the Nations…a part of YWAM. 5 teams had the privilege of staying here during the month. We got fed well and had beds, laundry and space to spread out and enjoy each others company! They were a blessing and an encouragement to us as we went out to serve the community…they stayed and blessed us. They became our friends. They served us with willing and cheerful hearts, smiles on their faces, laughter in the air and joy in their heart! I loved each and every one of these women and men at the base. We had the privilege of helping them move houses during our last weekend. It was hard work, but a blessing to serve those who diligently served us all month!
Ashley…our amazing Squad leader.

This was her last month with us. My team was honoured to have her around this month – whether it was coming to Rubbish Mountain or hanging out at the local cafe…or our Tuk-tuk Karaoke moments. It was a joy and a blessing. She is my friend and my sister. She will be missed. God knew what He was doing when He caled her to be one of H-Squad’s Leaders. She will be missed, but her joy, laughter and heart and passion for God and His Kingdom will continue to impact the Squad and my heart! Thank you Ashley…I started my World Race journey with you…and it’s still just the beginning!
She gave us a word at debrief – are you doing or being? It was powerful…and God spoke to me and gave me the following phrase!
IT’S NOT ABOUT WHAT WE DO BUT ABOUT WHO WE ARE!
This has been a hard lesson to learn. I don’t have to strive to please anyone. I just need to be and rest in God’s faithfulness. I continually need to put myself on the shelf and love on God so that I can love on others the way He loves me. I feel so far away from where I want to be, but it’s not about where I want to be…it’s about where God wants me to be…and needs me to be in order for me to learn and grow and trust Him in and through everything!
Cambodia…it was not just about the poor and needy and weak and sick…it was about loving my Squad and my team and being in ministry day in and day out, regardless of where I am or what I am doing…whether it is my moto driver, the lady pestering me to buy something at the local market, a team mate I am having a hard time relating to, or a friend in need. Ministry is not just a 9-5 “job.” It’s daily living…something I fail at often! No matter who we are or where we are, as believers, we are called to ministry – to minister to those around us, however God calls us to minister…a simple hug, smile, prayer or conversation!
Lord, remind me to be me and not the person someone else wants me to be. All glory due is to You, and You alone. You give me the words and passions of my heart. You see what I do not see! Father, I want you to be more than my Saviour…I need you to be my KING! Let my heart be open to the ministry around me, even when I am not in “ministry mode.” You are my Lord and my love!
