This girl is one of the sweetest, most courageous, and gentle women of God. She is only 16 years old and her heart for the Lord shines brighter than the sun. For her sake, I am not able to share her real name because she is a victim of rape and escaped a form of slavery a couple years ago. So I am going to call her Jewel!

I have had the privilege of working with Jewel a little bit this past month here in Nepal. She works with Agape Missions, ministering to women and children at risk. When Jewel was 9 years old, her parents sold her to a carpet factory in exchange for money. She then had to work for this factory, weaving rugs from 4am till 11pm seven days a week. I don’t know the details of how she was treated but I can assume it wasn’t good considering she was bought by these people as a subject for labor.

When she was about 13 years old the owners of this factory attempted to rape her. She was able to run away from that awful place, but she had no where to go. So Jewel had no choice but to live on the streets. It is known that you won’t find many girls on the streets because once the girls hit the streets they are usually taken and sold into prostitution. Although Jewel did get away from the terrible life her parents threw her in, she was still in great danger and without a home or anyone to care for her.

Almost a year later Brian and Ruth, the founders of Agape Missions, found her on the street. The Lord called them to minister to her and actually rescue her from the streets. They took her home with them, began to clean her up, scraping off all the calluses and damage her body had from where she was living. Not only did they give her a real home and loving people around her to live in, they shared the love of Christ. They told her about her Heavenly Father and how He’s been protecting her all these years and He sent them to tell her about Him so that she could live a free life spiritually but also here on earth.

Shortly after Agape Missions rescued Jewel, she decided to give her life to Christ!

Jewel continues to work with Agape Missions everyday and from the words of Brian, “She is so on fire for our Lord!” She has gone and worked with some people from YWAM and learned from them. Brian informed us that since we have been here she has really stepped up into leadership. As her mission family, they bought her a laptop and different resources to improve in her english and complete different work she is doing for the Lord.

None of us knew this about her until he told us and I asked more details about her story. As I mentioned at the beginning, she is so sweet and gentle. She loves the Lord so much and He has done such great work in her life! He has made her a new creation and rescued her in every way possible!

Please keep Jewel in your prayers as she continues her walk with the Lord and pursuing the work He has chosen to do through her with Agape Missions!

And praise the Lord for the Good Good Father He is to each and everyone of us. For the countless testimonies of lives like Jewel’s where our God pursued His children and continues to pursue us everyday!
