Da dunt duh duhhhhhh!!
I tend to get a rush of adrenaline and false sense of reality after I leave movies about superheroes. I somehow think for just a short time that I have a small degree of superpowers as those I just witnessed on the big screen.
I remember leaving The Avengers and feeling as I walked downstairs that I could fling myself through the bars of the railing in one swift and powerful movement in order to make my descent 2 seconds faster. Then I get to the parking garage and I have a small sick hope that someone will need my help and I’ll throw their attacker against a wall. As I get in my car I envision that someone is after me and I must use my “incredible” driving skills to evade them. Such bizarre thoughts that make me feel like I’m stronger than I truly am and that I can do awesome things with my imaginary superpowers. That only lasts about 10 mins…..
YET those 10 mins inspire me!
All my life I’ve heard about spiritual gifts but only in the past couple years have they become more real to me. At training camp they slapped me in the face. Then I got thinking…..do I dare relate spiritual gifts to superpowers?!? Why not???
God has bestowed the ability to his disciples to prophecy about others lives, He has given discernment to his disciples to see the supernatural world and look into someones soul past what they hide behind their smile, He has given his disciples the gift of healing. He has given his disciples his incredible wisdom to be shared with others, and the list goes on and on and on! (1 Corinthians 12:1-11)
I’m still working on discovering those gifts within myself and refining them. Training camp inspired me to do that while seeing others use those gifts and experiencing the impact they make.
Spiritual gifts add to the excitement of the Christian life…some may think a Christian life is monotonous and boring but wait until you experience the superpowers given out by Jesus, it’ll rock your world….
My hope is that you'll read these WR blogs and see God stories throughout this adventure and that you'll get the feeling your watching a superhero movie….NOT BY ANY STRENGTH of the “superhero” because they are just an ordinary person when you take away the source of the power. BUT that you will see the power used through that person and that it will inspire you (just like it did me) to use those superpowers you may not even know exist that are already within you.
My God is living and active and manifests himself within his believers so that people can have a taste of Jesus on earth…..sounds like a superpower to me
Cheers to inspiring God stories and superpowers,
Jen
