You are going where? What is it called? Is that the television show?! How long? What about your job?

As launch is nearly a month away I am long overdue for a bit of a FAQ about my trip…

To address the intro questions…

  • No I am not going to be on TV, not the Amazing Race, my experiences will be so much more rewarding! It is called the World Race however, I will NOT be running around the world either

  • I am going to 11 countries: El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cote d’ivoire, Ghana, Nepal, India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand

  • Yes, I am going to be gone for 11 months with straight, no time in between. That does mean I have to quit my job, move out of my rented townhouse, sell the majority of my possessions and say “until next year” to friends and family.

So you will be working as a nurse overseas?

  • Primarily no. The main mission of this trip is to evangelize, make God’s goodness and saving Grace known to his people, and to disciple my fellow believers to continue the Lord’s work in their community

Ok, so not medical…what specifically will you be doing?

  • I have to leave this answer a bit broad. It will look different for each country. I could be loving on some orphans, teaching English, manual labor, agricultural work/training or hosting a retreat for women who have been abused. We will be in constant prayer for the communities we will be helping and reaching out in whatever way they need to ultimately share God’s love to His people.

  • You will just have to stay tuned to by posts to get the inside scoop of my whereabouts while I am gone 🙂

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, son and holy spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of your age,

Matthew 2818-19

How are you packing for 11 months??

  • I have my 65L Osprey pack with my tent, sleeping bag & pad, clothes, toiletries, shoes and random things like a headlamp and outlet converter

  • I will also have a day pack with my laptop, books, journal, deck of cards among other random items like stick deodorant (apparently you can’t get the stick kind in other countries)

  • My one “extra” item I decided to bring is an aeropress…my squad and I will always have a way to have that cup of coffee 🙂

  • I am looking forward to collecting some unique clothing items in each country as well…practical souvenirs!

And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:19

I hope this clears up some of the confusion that comes with my announcement of going on The World Race. Keep the questions coming though! I love talking about this upcoming year and getting more excited with anticipation by the minute.

Side note fundraising update: I am 80% funded! Praise God as He is providing! Shout out to all my supporters both financially and with prayer. The challenge continues with reaching that 100% mark by launch the beginning of August! Even if it’s only $1 your donation can make a world of difference!
