I finally wrapped up the daunting task of writing, addressing, stamping, stuffing and mailing all of my support letters! Shout out to my mom and sister who helped with stuffing and addressing a few to make the process flow and relieve my hand cramp. As much work as these letters were I know God is going to use them to touch the family and friends in my life while informing them of this amazing journey God is calling me on. Who doesn’t like to receive snail mail?
This trip would not be possible if I did not have a support system here to cheer me on pray for me and the mission. I prayed over the letters before sending them and am resting in the fact God provides all of our needs and He will bless me through this fundraising journey!
Philippians 4:19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
On that note…keep an eye out for my letter and tack my business card to your fridge so you keep me in your prayers 🙂
Letter:
Dear
For the past year I have been working as a registered nurse in an Emergency Center where I have had many opportunities to care for others. I enjoy the fast paced, intense environment and the flexible schedule. With my time off I have been able to be a part of various mission trips. Just within this year I have had opportunities to use my medical background in providing care to people in Mexico City and in Haiti. I have been blessed to be able to make a difference seeing to people’s physical needs then going a step farther and touching their emotional and spiritual needs as well. Recently, I went on a mission trip to Colombia with a group of women, from around the country, with Adventures in Missions where we lead a women’s retreat. I learned just as much about myself as the women we were ministering to and strengthened my relationship with my Lord and Savior.
I have realized it is just as important to grow, connect and serve in my local community not just internationally. I am planning on attending a conference this fall so I can learn how to take the material we used with the women in Colombia to take back and teach the women in my life and church family. God has continued to lay missions on my heart both locally and internationally. I have prayed about the opportunity to be a part of a team on The World Race; after researching more about the program’s mission and values, I have felt called by God to trust Him in this extended journey. I believe He is leading me on a mission to experience His power and love first hand.
The World Race is an eleven month Christian mission trip to eleven countries around the world. One of the unique things about the World Race is not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to train my generation in their specific kingdom calling. My team and I will partner with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
I will face many challenges all throughout the World Race and need your prayers; additionally as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is my financial support. As a World Race participant I am required to fundraise all my financial support. In order to leave fully funded in August of 2017, I need to raise $17,600. This money will cover all of my field expenses for the eleven months of the trip. As I take this next step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you prayerfully consider joining me with a monthly commitment or another type of donation?
I will follow up with you to answer any questions or concerns you might have. You can also visit my blog at jennavanderhaar.theworldrace.org to find out more about me, my journey, sponsor my trip and how see I am doing on my goal. Thank you for your support as I embark on this incredible journey!
Yours in Christ,
Jenna VanderHaar
