A theme of these past few months has been joy. Finding joy in the every day tasks, in every situation, in every trial and in every person. Joy is not circumstantial; you have to choose joy. Joy is not an emotion, happiness is the emotion, but joy stems from the heart. To instill a heart of joy I have been recording everyday joys God blesses me with in my journal. I dedicate a page in my journal to add joys I experience and love watching it grow and thanking God for His goodness. This week is thanksgiving, please eat some turkey for me but also take time to think of all the joys around you. Remember to start every prayer with thanksgiving for we are very blessed.
I am thankful for…
obviously, my family and friends, their support and love
My V-squad family, and our opportunity to experience life
Our hosts and all the blessings they are providing, even a Thanksgiving feast
Warm weather and outdoor living ๐
The consistency of the sunrise every morning, never failing to wake me up to start the day
The gentle breeze reminding me of His presence
The little rainbows in the bubbles of the soap while washing dishes
Coffee and Jesus time
The smiles seen on the faces of innocent children
This weekend’s opportunity to retreat to the laguna for a day full of sun, water, kayaking, friends and relaxation ๐
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13
Fun Fact: Laguna de Apoyo (above) was formed by a crater from a previous volcano. It’s a fresh water and a bit sulferus as it is surrounded by volcanos. A submarine was sent down to measure the depth however eventually lost signal because of how deep it went…who knows, maybe it goes all the way to the core of the Earth!
It’s pretty easy waking up at 5am to run when this is the view ๐
