Prompt: What was the funniest thing that happened this month?

Jenna Rose, Jacob, and I got to teach an advanced English class this month at the local church. Our students are typically several 13/14 year old girls who understand English decently but don’t speak it well at all. We planned a vocabulary lesson focused on geographical locations and weather. Jenna Rose is an excellent teacher, as well as a truly hilarious person. We share alllllll the laughs! Anyway, as the lesson wore on, the girls were getting bored and we knew we had to do something to lift the mood. Therefore, the magnificent game of Natural Disaster Charades with Jenna Rose was created. The rules were: J Rose acts out the weather and the students have to somehow guess the natural disaster in English. It was ridiculously funny. In a matter of moments, J Rose was swinging her arms around, spinning, and making the strangest noises while trying to become the human embodiment of a tsunami. The girls were cracking up. It’s so hard to describe in words the beauty, grace, and hilarity in which my wonderful teammate acted out the crushing waves and terrifying winds, but trust me, it was glorious. The lesson came to an end with girls clutching their sides and gasping for breath. Laughter is certainly the best medicine for boredom, and it definitely helps to have a hilarious teacher with a great tsunami impression!

Everything is fine- we got the kids at the church to play pterodactyl. If you don’t know what this game is, I seriously encourage you to watch videos of it. This was funny enough in itself. But see, that isn’t what was funny. I wrestle around with the kids at the English class quite often. So we are playing this game and one of the boy’s named Tima comes up behind me and knees me. I think he meant to knee me in the butt, but that’s not what he hit…Out of pure reflex, within a microsecond, i am turning towards this ten year old kid. I have my fist clinched and thoughts are flying through my head. Mainly, “oh no, i am about to knock out a kid.” As my hand is soaring towards his chin, I unclinch my fist and the look of terror on his face is unmatched. I change the direction of my hand just in time to grab his shoulder instead of accidentally hit him! I push him to the very end of the walk way to some seats, and I sit him down. And with a stern voice and probably a look in my eyes with the power of a thousand angles and say, no!!  Now I tell you it was through God alone that I didn’t hit him.

Well, well, well there was a lot of funny things that happened this week like getting lost in another city because we didn’t know what bus stop to get of on

Heyya, folks! Colby, again!

There have been so many funny moments, ya’ll. Seriously. God has blessed this team with an overload of good laughs and fond memories. One funny moment happened just last night when our team decided to have some fun for Halloween. We were tossing around ideas for the evening when the one and only miss J Rose says, “Why don’t wee all throw our clothes in a pile, turn the lights off, blindly pick clothes out, and put them on in the dark.” (Or at least she got this out after five minutes of giggles and gasps of laughter.) Ten minutes later found us all up in the girls room, staring down at a mountain of skinny jeans, skirts, pants, and every other Earthly item of clothing. Well there’s not much more to say…. Here’s a pic.

Oh gosh where do I BEGIN? There has been literally too many funny things to even name one. Buttttt there was one that stuck out the most. One afternoon, us three girls Jenna Rose, Emma and I were just chilling downstairs and talking, when all of a sudden Colby comes in and let’s on a little secret that we did not know about. His old Facebook. Sooo we went on Facebook and scrolled all the way down to his old posts from 2011-2013 and actually starting dying laughing and couldn’t contain it for at least 3 days. Lemme just tell you some of the things that we wrote way back.

“I LOVE EXPLOSIVES!!!!!!!!!!”
“I got baptized today!!!!!! :)))”

“The Chris Tomlin concert was intense!!!!”

“I love eBay.”

and the best one…..

“I don’t know bout you but Ima livin for Jesus!!!”

Sorry Colby, but it made everyone laugh. It’s pretty dang funny.

                                                              Your Friend,

                                                                              Camryn McKinnon

I hope you’ve enjoyed all of these hilarious moments told by my amazing team mates. I legitimately don’t think I’ve laughed harder in my entire life than I have this month. The Lord really has given us moments that put me in a state of complete hysteria. I promise, tears don’t stop flowing, unattractive snorts escape my mouth, and my abdominal muscles have experienced more engagement than they probably ever have. Funny things happen daily and pretty much hourly, but my favorite is the aftermath of all these moments. The Lord gave us the gift of laughter, and for me, it creates this sort of bond to a person. When you share a good laugh with someone, it connects you on so many levels. It lets you into who they are and memories are instantly created which in turn creates trust. So my favorite moments have been after class, when the kids won’t stop laughing because of something silly, and they hug me for the longest time because we just shared in something that connected us. And with my teammates, saying goodnight to them after we just laughed our heads off together makes me feel this sense of warmth and joy. It’s a sense of joy that the Father is doing something amazing in our relationships. Not only is He allowing us to connect over depth and growth, but also laughter and happiness.

For our blogging session, my team mates had this idea to write a prompt at the top of the page and pass the computer so that everyone could share and write. I’ve shared about a variety of things that have happened in Ukraine so check out these blogs to hear some amazing stories!
