To set the record straight

Just in case there are faulty conceptions out there, I want to clarify a few.

  1. You get used to a LOT of things. One never grows accustomed to mosquito bites.

  2. You actually can live a full and happy life with 50-60 lbs of belongings (and arguably much less). You can even feel pretty. . . occasionally.

  3. For every exciting picture, there are 13 untaken pictures of filth, waiting, cultural offense, team annoyance and exhaustion.

  4. Even when one is in a novel environment making life-long memories, the wonderful impact of an email, message, or other contact from home cannot be overstated.

  5. They say friends are family you get to choose. Our team is family and friends you didn’t get to choose—and we love each other immensely. I am so grateful for these incredible individuals.

  6. If you have missed me even in a moment, I have probably missed you in 10.

  7. Don’t try to define “edible”. There will always be something to broaden your definition.

  8. Everything is about Jesus. Even when we don’t see it, don’t portray it, or don’t believe it.

  9. Yes, people absolutely are different everywhere. It’s incredible, confusing, appalling, and endearing. On the whole though, we’re more alike than different.

  10. I am so glad I am on this journey, and I am so glad for what’s coming afterward. A time for everything.

  11. What about things I left unclarified? Comment with questions and I’ll let you know!
