I love Thanksgiving! Personally I think the holiday is pretty ironic (let’s stuff our faces on the day we’re supposed to thankful for what we have) but I’m not complaining cause c’mon… mashed potatoes and gravy.

I wanted to take a minute to just share with everyone what I’m most thankful for.

First and foremost, I am thankful for the Gospel. To be honest it becomes almost comfortable sometimes. I’ve been hearing Jesus died for my sins for 20 years now so I’m pretty used to the idea. But I often have to remind myself… This is a gift. You were chosen and given a gift, and now you have everlasting life and eternal joy. No big deal right?….Wrong! This is the most important thing in my life and I’m more thankful for the Gospel than any other thing the Lord has blessed me with. Everyday is Thanksgiving as a recipient of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Second I’m so thankful for my church. I’ve recently become more involved than I ever have been before and it’s such a blessing. I love getting to know the kids and leaders in the youth ministry, I love spending time teaching and learning from them, I love my life group and everything I’ve learned from it. Most of all I love that we are one body of Christ worshiping him with all of our hearts.

Third I’m thankful for all of the ways the Lord is challenging me right now. This race is really difficult and I haven’t even left yet. I stress about fundraising and I stress about the gear I have to purchase and the very real events happening around the world. But God is bringing me closer to Him through all of this. He’s reminding me that He is in control. Every breath I take, He allows. Every dollar the World Race receives is because He allows it. If I can trust to follow where He leads, I can trust Him that He will be faithful and follow through. The Lord is working everyday around me and I’m so thankful I get to witness it and be a part of His plan.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey! I deeply appreciate every prayer, donation, and kind word. And now, I need to go make Aunt Carol’s “famous” creamed corn. Happy Thanksgiving!
