Today I read a small passage in Isaiah (Isaiah 58:1-3 , 5-7). Are there days where you ask yourself “Is this pleasing to God? Is this his vision of what his world should look like?” The Israelites faced this same question (Read the passage)

Everyday we hear a story of war, children going hungry, people loosing their jobs and homes, stories on the news about murder and destruction. For those hearing those stories how does that make you feel, what does that call you to do?

God commands us to serve and love people, especially the people who are in need. In need of food, clothing, help, love, spiritual growth and justice. I feel like sometimes I focus on my relationship with God and getting to know him better by pouring into my own faith and working to improve myself. Even though thats good I have also realized that God wants more than a knowledgeable christian. He wants us to go out into the world, to show love and do something! He wants us to see and experience the people of his world and not just have faith but LIVE IT OUT.

In the book of James

2:15-16

“Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say , ‘Goodbye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well’ but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?”

2:19-20

“you say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?”

God has lead in me in a direction that has shaken my world and that my heart aches for what aches his. Going on this journey I am not only being faithful but living out my faith and it won’t be easy. Just as it is not easy to live it out here at home. We are all called to different things and by choosing to follow God we are giving him full control of our lives and where that may take us only he knows.

*Please keep my team and myself in your prayers, this saturday we all leave for training camp and it will be the first time we all meet!
