“Well lived lives have the same elements in them as good stories- plot twists, conflict, adventures, and a good Author.”
This quote perfectly describes how I am to live my life, realizing that with God as my author, all these elements will take place in my life. But another key element to a story is the setting, and in my personal opinion, that is one of the most important components. The setting determines how the character reacts to situations, the setting determines the personality of the character, and ultimately, the setting dictates how the story plays out.
I chose to move my setting for several reasons, but the one that stuck out the most was fear of complacency. I fully believe that the most dangerous trap a Christ-follower can fall into is complacency. When you get too comfortable with life, you don’t need to rely fully on Christ for all your needs. You start putting your own tendencies and own wants in front of our Creator. This is a slippery slope that I recently fell into, and let me tell you, it’s a lot harder to get back out than it was to fall.
God creates opportunities for us in life, and we choose whether or not to accept them. Will you let fear stop you from possibly starting the greatest adventure of your life? Trust God, and let Him put a plot twist, conflict, and adventure in your life all at one time. All you need to do is say yes.
“I’d like to suggest that the greatest risk we face these days is that of an unlived life.” –Seth Barnes, Kingdom Journeys. What has God laid on your heart to go do? Stop being afraid of it and go do it! I promise the rewards will be so much greater than you could ever imagine. You’re scared? Me too. And that’s ok. But our God is so much greater than any fear you could ever have.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” –Jeremiah 29:11
The one who created the universe has your future in His hands. Why worry what the future will bring? Trust Him, follow Him, and I promise you, everything will fall into place. But YOU need to say yes, first. The Author of your life is waiting to write the next chapter, now go let Him!
God bless,
Jenna
