Dear friends and family,
I’m writing you this letter to update you with my life and share where I’m being led! I have been working at Allegheny Center Alliance Church on the north-side of Pittsburgh for the past 3 years. I’ve continued to serve in the children’s ministry as an after school teacher as well as a counselor in the summer day camp. This job has brought out such joy in me. God has used this ministry to show me how my heart is dedicated to children from all ages and back- grounds. Since my last missionary conference Urbana, I’ve felt strongly led to go overseas in some aspect. I was very unsure of where exactly I was being led, and each door I pushed, kept closing.
With faithfulness, God kept bringing to my attention a mission opportunity to serve called the World Race. After much prayer and encouragement, I applied, and have recently been invited to GO on the World Race! The World Race is part of Adventures in Missions, an inter-denominational missions organization that has sent over 100,000 people into the mission field since 1989. The World race is one of their trips, specifically for my generation to go to 11 countries in 11 months! I will be leaving in September 2014 to travel to Thailand , Cambodia, Vietnam, Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa ,Turkey, Albania , Honduras , Nicaragua and Costa Rica .While in each country my team and I will be partnering with local churches and ministries to serve in ANY area of need.
I’m so grateful for this door to open! I’ am so ready to live more like Christ! Jesus said to his disciples in John14:12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the father.”I feel burdened to care for the orphaned child, the homeless, the fatherless and all who have been abused. I’m yearning to share the redeeming healing love Christ Jesus has offered me in my own pain, hurt and mess. I am ready to pray for all who need and desire to know Jesus! On the world race this will all be my reality!
Now, what I need is you! I need your support in this exciting adventure! My goals from here are simple; the first is to create a prayer team. My second need for this trip is financial support! My total cost for the trip is $16,254- this includes travel, training, lodging, food and most other necessities for 11 months. Right now this number seems enormous, but I know God already has this under control. Please consider this step prayerfully; I want you to truly feel led to support me through Christ! In order to continue in the world race process I need to meet a series of financial deadlines:
First deadline- June 27, 2014- goal -$3,500.
Second deadline
– August 8, 2014-goal $7,500.
Third deadline
–December 1, 2014-goal $11,000( end of 3 months in the field)
Fourth deadline
– March 1,2015-goal 16,254.35 (due end of 6 months on the field)
Only checks and money orders are accepted by Adventures in Missions through the mail- No Cash Please! Checks and money orders can be sent to Adventures in Mission Po Box 74250 Atlanta GA 30374-2570 (you have an enclosed envelope addressed with your letter). Please make checks payable to Adventures in Missions-on the memo line please write-appealed by Jenna Martin and sent with the donation card provided.
