My squad made it safely to Quiche Guatemala on Tuesday afternoon! We are staying with a host family from the states who help in all kinds of ways in their community And our opening up their facilities to us.My team is working alongside a pastor who started a school beside his church and has such a passion for the families in his area. The first day at the school we went to the schools soccer game to show support, it was challenging at first since most of my team speaks little Spanish. As we were piecing together the small Spanish we know,a few kids spoke small phrases in English so of coarse we were excited to communicate more. As we started asking them to speak more English they started singing a children’s bible song I’m very familiar with working in children’s ministry the last few years. in that moment my heart dropped of excitement and joined in singing with them- my God is so big so strong and so mighty there’s nothing my God can not do. I must of asked every child I met after that if they knew that song just to sing it with them, my heart was so full!

Yesterday was the Independence Day here in Guatemala so we were able to witness and take part in their traditions. Many of us girls were lent some traditional Guatemalan clothing to wear for the day to the parade. So many of the locals loved seeing us americanios dressed up, they asked to take pictures with us at the parade. We felt so welcomed in the culture it was really awesome!

We’ll it’s been only week but I see God using all the circumstances to bring out my comforts, likes and dislikes. One area he keeps showing me is being faithful to him, rely on him and the purpose he has given me to be here on his journey! He keeps whispering softly to my soul when I get distracted by everything around me, and he says you have a purpose to listen share and speak about me and how you experience me. It’s such and encouraging grounding moment but know I will have many more before this month is over. Stay tuned friends for pictures and more adventure!
