I watched a lot of Little House on the Prairie growing up and recently acquired every season of Dr. Quinn Medicine woman which is what I have to blame for this blog.  I just started typing and it turned into a letter from the 1900’s.  I found it quite entertaining and hope you do as well.  If not, then find joy in the fact that it made my struggle day significantly brighter 🙂  When I wrote it in word it was in a script font, unfortunately, my blog doesn't have that kind of font…

7 July 2012

   Dearest family,

It’s the seventh month of my eleven month journey.  Our travel here was shorter than expected, but still took days.  Our mode of transport was not our most comfortable.  But nevertheless, twenty three of us have arrived safely to Cape Town, South Africa.  The remaining twenty four departed elsewhere and will meet up with us again come the end of the month.  If you remember from my earlier letters, that is ten more people than before.  This is because we were blessed to find ten loyal followers of Christ who offered to join us on our journey.  Unfortunately, their schedules only permit them to stay for this month alone.  But we are quite honored to have them share in our ministry.

The weather here has been colder than expected and the sun has been hiding behind the ever present rain clouds.  Remember, while it is summer where you are, here, it is very much winter.  We have spent the last two days in log cabins without a fireplace.  Fortunately, there is a nearby building with a kitchen for us to use to our liking.  Tomorrow we head to church bright and early dressed in our Sunday’s best.  The church has graciously offered to make us an afternoon meal following the service.

Come four o’clock tomorrow, we are packing up once again and moving in with some very hospitable families.  Due to our changing accommodations, we will be splitting our group even further.  I will be living with Mikayla, one of our new friends.  During the day we will meet up with nine others to work at a school house. Our days will start at eight o’clock in the morning and end just in time for our evening meal.

As always, each day brings new friends and new adventures and I hope to share them all with you soon.  As for now, I continue to go where God is leading me in hopes of sharing the gospel with those who have not been fortunate enough to hear the good news.

I hope this letter reaches you well and I cannot wait to reunite with you all come December.  May God’s grace and peace be with you forever and always.

With all my joy and love,
               Jenna
