As I am sitting here in a hotel room in Roanoke, VA, I find myself overwhelmed with the goodness of the Lord. In the morning I have to opportunity to represent my school, Marshall University, as an Athletic Training student as we take on Virginia Tech in football. It is hard to explain how excited I am to be able to step on the field in Blacksburg tomorrow, but more importantly I can’t help but marvel in the way God has provided financially for the World Race in the past week. On Wednesday of last week, it was learned that in order to meet my first support deadline, September 27, I have to have $3500 in my account. I understand that $3500 doesn't seem like a large amount, it appeared to be impossible to raise that amount of money in 2 weeks. If I can be transparent with all of you for a moment, I must admit that with everything that has to be completed in order to finish school, I have found myself incredibly overwhelmed. All too often I find myself reverberating back to viewing a situation from the perspective of what I can do versus what is possible with the Lord working through me. I have so many doubts, but thankfully the Lord is patient with me. It all comes down to the fact that I am no longer myself anyways, my identity is fixed in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17), and worrying about tomorrow is going to get me nowhere (Matthew 6:25-38). Therefore I have comfort in knowing that as long as I am seeking after the Lord that he is going to direct my path.
In spite of the chaos of the past 9 days, I can just see the Lord working in this process of raising support. The evidence of his sovereignty is displayed in the fact that I attended the benefit concert of a fellow World Racer last Friday, and out of obedience of the Holy Spirit all the gate money from that event was given towards my account, a friend of mine is sending me her old pair of chaco’s, that just happen to be the right size, and a young friend of mine went over and beyond with a crazy generous donation. Therefore after just over a week, I am only about $1200 dollars short of my goal.
If you have already taken the time to partner with me financially then I am so thankful for you! Please continue to share my blog and support letter with everyone that you know!!!
