The Holy Spirit permeated the room as 50 sweaty bodies were crammed in a dingy hostel worshipping God. We had 2 days together as a squad in Ho Chi Minh city before traveling to Cambodia. For me, those days involved a prayer of freedom with 2 of my squad leaders. As I sat on the bed across from them God revealed some ways the enemy had been holding me back and then spoke some amazing truths to me. I left feeling literally giddy on Gods love and with a renewed passion to connect with Him.

Upon getting off the bus in Phnom Penh we were greeted, along with our host, by a thick blanket of wet heat that has yet to lift. This month we are working with Soul Cambodia ministries in church planting in the villages and teaching at orphanages of children saved from trafficking. Here’s a few random bits of what our days have looked like so far…

Spending a lot of time at orphanages with the children. Their joy-filled smiles and the innocence in their eyes tell of the Lords love for them.

Helping create handmade cards that are sold to purchase basic supplies like shampoo and soap for the children.

Crashing a wedding where we were served ant coated beef amongst other exotic foods. It was a night to remember for sure.

Going out into the remote villages to have church services. The people live such simple lives relying on the Lord for every need. I instantly fell in love with an elderly woman who took my hand and held on to me as if we were lifelong friends. I felt a nudge from God reminding me that He has given me this passion for caring for the elderly and He still has a purpose for it in my life.

Thinking I was stopping to share the gospel with a woman on the street and coming instead to meet a sister in Christ who I had the privelage of bonding with through prayer.

The Lord has so faithfully brought us here, to a country where less than 1% of the population is Christian, as His ambassadors to tell people the good news of Jesus and show them His love. As we begin our month here please pray for Soul Cambodia, provision for the children in the orphanages, and receptive hearts.
