So by the title of my blog I assume you are wondering how I got shot in the butt. Well our first week here in Honduras my right heel of my foot started to hurt, it has hurt on and off before since January. So I went to the clinic doctor and had her look at it, she said it was inflamed and that she basically thought it was a heel spur. The only thing that could be done for now was to take some aspirin and monitor it for a few days and take it easy. Then after a few days if we needed to then I might have to go and get some X-Rays. In order for me to take it easy I had to stop working and doing ministry with my teammates and do something much easier. I ended up doing work at the local school on property here at La Providencia. My time was spent in the library getting books ready to be added so that kids can check them out, and to my surprise it was the most rewarding experience. I got to hang out with the kids everyday, I watched them get excited for the books that are about to go on the shelves for them to checkout, I got to help some teachers out that honestly do SO MUCH that they just don’t have any spare moment to get what I was doing done. I loved going up there and working every single day. Yes it was a struggle to not be with my teammates and I was missing out on a lot but God was working in a different way through me.

So now about the shot. My foot was in pain for about 2 weeks and we finally decided that I needed to get this pain away so we decided on a mild steroid shot. When the doctor showed up and it was time to get it done she asked me
“Where would you like the shot?” I in return asked her “where will it work the fastest?” She replied……in my butt. Now I hate needles like most people do and shots (I got plenty before the race) but NEVER. IN. MY. LIFE…in my butt! So I layed down and held my squad leader Larissa’s hand and she put that huge needle in my butt and gave me my shot. Did it hurt? DUH! I got a shot in my butt of course it hurt! OW! Now its been a few days my foot feels so much better and I’m taking all my additional medications. I want to thank everyone that prayed for me during this long 2 weeks of ‘we don’t know whats going on and how to fix it’. I am back doing ministry with my team and I have finished all my work in the library and was sad to leave it. I also thank God for the time I spent there, I was hurting at this point in time so that I could be a blessing to those up at the school, I didn’t realize it at the time but the outstanding feedback I have heard for something I looked at as a small task helped me see and realize what I was really doing up at that school.
