So I’ll tell you 🙂
This month in South Africa has been great so far! We are now in our last week so life is getting sad, but somehow I feel like I’ll end up here again in my life, so I guess it’s not all bad.
I’m sure you’re all curious about what we’ve been doing this month since I wasn’t too sure what it would be in the beginning.
Our main focus was working in a high school teaching/counselling the kids about drugs and alcohol, their identity in Christ, and their futures. And working in a youth correctional facility (up to 26ish years old). In the prison the officers said people often come to preach to the inmates but rarely ever talk with them and get to know who they really are. So we did both. Talking with the inmates was probably my favourite ministry here and possibly on The Race so far.
Outside of those two ministries we have also been working in some of the primary schools with their sports programmes, in the local preschool, and with the local youth groups.
This month has not only been great because of the ministry or personally, but also for us as a team. We are slowly learning how to communicate, each others talents and weaknesses, and how we can best work together. I am excited to see what is in store for all of us as a team in the months to come.
Next month we will be going to Swaziland for ministry. March will be a slightly different month than all the others because there will be no mixed gender teams. So once again this means a new team! It will not stay this way throughout our remaining 5 months though, only for the month of March then we will return to our original teams.
Also my final deadline for being fully funded is just 2 weeks away on March 1. I am still in need of $320 to be fully funded so prayers and/or your consideration of assisting me financially would be much appreciated! Also for my teammates who are not yet fully funded, prayers would be awesome!
Thank you all so much for sticking with me on this journey in prayer, financially, and through reading these blogs. It means so much to know what people are behind you in this.
More info on Swaziland to come as well as pictures!
