Our contact gave us the weekend off since he was headed out-of-town and we had travelled/worked for the first 11 days of the month straight. So with a mere 72 hour break, what did we decide to do?
SINGAPORE.
We finished ministry at 8pm Friday night and hopped on a train 2 hours later for the fastest, craziest, most spontaneous adventure of my life…and I’ve done a lot of fast, crazy, spontaneous things! Here’s the run down:
10pm board an overnight train to Singapore
12pm arrive in Singapore and head to Customs
2pm check into our hostel
4pm hit the city for a late lunch with the hubs
5pm head to Marina Bay with Jay, Ashley, Ciera & Blake. We saw the sights, the beautiful skyline and were completely overwhelmed with the mall since we’ve been so far removed from the consumerist culture.
8pm head to the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel with Jay and see the city view from the 56th floor. It was breathtaking and a great mini-date!
9:30pm catch the water/light show on the Bay
10:30pm dinner at the Singapore Flyer
11pm catch the metro train to the hostel
12am bedtime
6am rise&shine
8am check-out of the hostel and head to the bay for a hop-on-hop-off boat tour with the usual suspects
9am realize the boat offices are closed :/
10am get BLESSED by Jesus & our new friend, Virgel, with a FREE ride on the Hippo tour bus
12pm Gardens by the Bay (GORGEOUS!) and the $5 tram ride around the HUGE property
2pm lunch in Chinatown & Chinese market!
4pm Merlion Park
5pm begin the journey back to the train station
7pm Customs and board an overnight train home
8am arrive in Kuala Krai
…and that, my friends, is what 31 hours in Singapore looks like.
