In just 8 short days I begin an adventure 5 years in the making. . . . For those that are curious how that can be, since I was just accepted to the World Race 2 weeks ago, and only became familiar with them about 6 months ago, let me explain! A little over 5 years ago I took my first real step of faith and traveled to Africa on my first ever mission trip. It took all of about 5 min on the ground to know that God was calling me to full time missions. The best way I can explain it is, imagine wearing the wrong size shoe for your whole life (it kinda fit, you could walk but it was stifling, you knew something was off but wasn’t sure what) and then all of a sudden being given the right size shoe! You would know immediately what had been wrong and would never be able to go back to the wrong size!
While I was in Africa, God began to put the people of India, and eventually most of Asia, on my heart. I had never been, I had no idea why I would feel so called to a people I had very limited experience/interaction with. Whatever the reason, I knew I had to be obedient to the call. For the next 5 years I explored and tried every opportunity I could find to travel to and minister in Asia with no success. I began to question, “did I hear you right God?” “Is this really where you’re calling me?” Well 6 months ago He answered with The World Race! Not only does the route I’m committed to go to India but also Cambodia, Nepal, and 8 other Asian countries! I love how if we will just step forward, one step at a time, God will provide beyond anything we thought possible!
As amazing as this process has been, there is still trusting and work ahead. In the next 8 days before training camp, I MUST meet my first funding check point of $3500, I’m currently right around $1500, $2000 short. I know that God is going to provide and I trust Him to provide above and beyond what I could imagine! Are you a part of His plan to provide for this journey? You can be a part of His provision in 3 ways, the most important is of course prayer! Prayer for strength, courage, endurance and faithfulness! You can also provide financially by clicking the Support Me link to the left of this post. The third way you can help bless me on this journey is the gifting of gear, I have set up a registry for the things I’ll need to be able to live and minister in Asia for the next 11 months, the registry can be found here: http://www.myregistry.com/public/jenn-chacon
Thank you for joining me on this journey, I look forward to sharing with you here all the amazing ways God works in me and through me in the coming year!
