My New Year's Resolutions look a little different this year…

1. No part of me shall fall in the hole in the ground known as the squattie pottie.

2. Get better at my aim, if you know what I mean.

3. I will not befriend the chickens. There are too many of them, and we may eat one at some point (although that’s probably unlikely).

4. I will, however, befriend the goat.

5. I will change my clothes more than once a week. Maybe. If I remember.

6. I will shower with less water than I ever though possible. And like it.

7. I will fall in love again each day with rice and beans. I will not let our relationship grow cold. I will learn how to keep things fresh between us.

8. I will climb into my bunk bed gracefully every time, even though it’s the middle in a set of three. I will remember that even the least graceful entry cannot match the disaster that is me trying to get in and out of a tent.

9. I will remember to watch what I say, because everyone speaks English here and can actually understand me.

10. I will not horde food, baby wipes, or toilet paper. We are in Africa, not a deserted island or hunger games arena.

And some real ones:

1. Pour myself into ministry. Empty myself each day, knowing that God will fill me again exactly when I need it.

2. Pour myself into the family we are living with and the people around me. Love them fearlessly.

3. Not complain.

4. Watch my words.

5. Be myself all of the time.

6. Give honest feedback.

7. Thank God more.

8. Be present. And thankful.

9. Not worry or fear. Remember everything God has done in the past.

10. Get into the Word more. Live off of it.

We are just settling into our home here in Uganda. We are living with a wonderful family, and they are taking such good care of us. Uganda is green and beautiful and the weather is gorgeous. We are so blessed! Please continue to pray for us as we start this next chapter. Thank you so much for your prayers and support!
