So one of my squad mates Morgan (hi Mo i love ya) gave our squad a challenge this week: to write a blog on another squad mate! After putting our names into a random pairing generator, I was granted the honor of writing about Anna Horst!

I was really excited when I got paired with Anna! Reason 1 is because she is really funny and has a lot of random stories that crack everyone up; and reason 2 is because we haven’t yet gotten the chance to talk one-on-one yet!

I wrote out some questions for Anna to answer to get us rolling, so here we go!

Where are you from?

Kilgore, Texas

Why are you choosing the race?

I am choosing the race because it is what the Lord has led me to. I prayed and prayed about it and God closed, and opened, doors that led me to the race. I also chose the race because I want to grow and be pushed out of my comfort zone in my faith.

Without expectations, of course, what are your hopes/aspirations for the race?

To grow, learn, and to become stronger in my faith.

What’s been something the Lord has taught you during your preparation for the race?

That everything is under control. He will provide. If I am supposed to go on the race, then $16,000 is not going to stop his will from being done.

(amen sister!!!)

What is your favorite food?

Avocado

Which country are you most excited to go to?

Ecuador!! Because of special needs hospitals; and because it has a cool name.

What is something you want to grow in before the race and after the race?

Before the race…I want to learn how to be patient. Throughout/after I want to have learned how to be intentional with every person in my life; especially my family.

What are a few things that make you excited for the race?

Getting to see God work in ways I’ve never experienced before, getting to meet all of the people on my team, meeting new people, learning new languages, and experiencing other cultures.

Are you nervous for anything on the race? If so, what?

I’m not nervous yet. But I will be. I don’t really know what to expect and right now it feels so far away…a couple days before leaving for launch it will hit me and I’ll probably freak out hahah. But I guess what I am most nervous for is people back home not missing me. sounds silly.

(not at all! I can relate to all that too :])

What is a “life verse” for you? (“life verse” is like a bible verse that has resonated with you really deeply/a verse that means a lot to you or you keep coming back to)

Romans 8:18 which says, “I consider our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” I love this verse because it reminds me that every bad thing that happens on earth is only temporary and that there will be full healing and comfort in heaven.

How can people be praying for you and your journey on WR Gap?

People can be praying that I will be fully focused on the Lord throughout this summer and this coming year. Focused on what He is saying especially when it is to share the gospel. Also for me to be mentally and physically prepared for the race.

I just wanted to say thank you, Anna, for sharing and being so open to all my Q’s! I wanted to let you know a little bit about what I felt the Lord was putting on my heart to tell you:

“Anna, I want you to be desperate for me. I want you to chase me with all that you have. Never cease. Be proactive in finding me and looking for me. I will show myself to you and provide for you; you need only to trust me.”
