My entire squad and I are in Mozambique to go minister with an organization called Iris Ministries. www.irismin.org. Iris Ministries is a Christian organization committed to bringing the Kingdom of God to earth in all it’s aspects, but most especially through their particular calling to serve the very poor; the destitute, the lost, the broken, and the forgotten. We will be working at one of there sites in Dondo, a town near Beira, Mozambique.
Our ministry assignment this week has been to work on site with three ladies named Sharon, Lori, and Loranna. Their ministries includes going out and helping with widow’s ministry, hospital ministry, and drama ministry in the surrounding areas.
Yes… I said drama ministry! HOW PERFECT!!!!! God is so good!
So much healing is happening here in Mozambique; with our squad and with the people we’re ministering to. God is moving in this place.
On Saturday, Sharon invited some of us to go into Beira with her and teach a hip-hop dance to some teenagers that she’s working with. For those of you that know me and my dance abilities, I’m not the best at hip-hop, but OF COURSE I still jumped on the opportunity. If this wasn’t God calling me I don’t what was. We had so much fun! The girls did such an amazing job. Nobody can dance like Africans can dance, let me tell you. Here’s a video of the dance my squad-mate Morgan and I taught them.
We noticed through this experience that teenagers will always be teenagers, no matter what culture. There are still clicks and cattyness and people’s feelings are very sensitive. I will say… it made me miss my Kutztown students. (Shout out to you guys! Love you all!) What an experience!
Thank you Sharon for sharing this experience with me. It truly gave me hope that there is a niche for all my gifts to be used. God has big plans for me.
