I am an independent person in many ways. When it comes to asking people for help, I have usually preferred not to show “weakness”. To try to do it all on my own.
I have found value before in what I can do for other people and this is something I am working on, as I need to find value in who I am in Christ.
But now, this is something that I cannot do on my own, by myself. It is something I need people to help me with this time.
I am God’s daughter. My identity is in Him. I trust Him to provide for my needs.
When the big number of nearly $17,000 came along to be raised to go on the Race, it caused a bit of sticker shock.
Especially because this means I cannot do this all on my own.
I am working full time and have taken on additional holiday and odd jobs and am selling stuff as well, but I still cannot do this all on my own>>>I need your help!
The money you donate will go towards the costs of allowing me to be part of this journey to help people around the world. This includes all travel, food and lodging costs for the 11 months on the field.
Keep reading for the detailed breakdown below.
I do not like asking for help. Especially when it comes to asking for money. I apologize if I have gone about it in the wrong way. I am not perfect and I am learning. I am looking to move forward in a healthy way with my community to honor God.
I appreciate everyone who has come alongside of me thus far. Whether with an encouraging word or if you expressed your support by donating, THANK YOU! It means so much to me, more than I can fully express here. Your support matters and is so, so valued and needed. And cherished! I cherish you and thank you for your help and support and love!
I cannot do this without YOU! I would literally not be able to go in January if you don’t come alongside and help and support me in whatever way you can.
Confession time: I am terrified to ask for money.
And please know this: It is not just for me.
When you give to me, you are giving through me to send me to do the work needed to help other people: men, women and children around the world.
I have taken steps to put aside my pride, as I am not looking for a handout.
I am asking people to join me on this amazing, epic journey around the world.
But it is still super challenging to directly ask someone for support.
I have asked for help in other ways. I have blogged about this amazing opportunity. I have posted on social media. I have written and mailed out letters. I am planning fundraising events. I am planning social get-togethers to share about my trip. I am telling family and friends. I am sharing this with my community.
I am pushing past the challenging, pushing past the fear. Because I believe in this cause. I believe in this mission. I believe this is the time for me to do this.
I won’t back down. I will keep moving forward. Even if the numbers don’t make sense or I don’t see a way. Even when it feels hard. Or if it feels impossible.
I am asking for your partnership in this journey. The World Race will allow me to do work around the work to meet the real and practical needs of orphans, children, men and women, refugees or human trafficking victims.
This is real. This is to help save lives.
The money you donate to send me on the World Race does not go directly to me. It goes to the organization that runs the Race: Adventures in Missions.
What I expressed above is my heart. Even if it is scary to share. I am being vulnerable here, as I will be sharing my heart with you and with the people I meet and work with when I go to the 11 countries.
I will share the real stuff, the hard stuff, the amazing and exciting and unbelievable stuff with you. For God’s glory, to show His grace and His power.
Here is a breakdown of the finances for the World Race I am going on this January.

As you can see, 65% of the funds I am raising will go towards my expenses for the 11 months. Again, let me show you a graph of how this breaks down for each category.

Even if you can’t give a ton— anything helps !!!
**IN ADDITION TO THE $16,962:
I will need outdoorsy gear like a tent, sleeping bag, vaccinations, & funding for daily miscellaneous needs on the Race, etc.***I am sponsoring children through Compassion, International and while they lowered the commitment amount, it is still a significant amount to pay while I am on the Race and I don’t want to cancel. Please ask me about sponsoring one of my children while I’m on the Race if you’d like to make a difference in a huge way to a child in need around the globe! I can send you the details if you’d like to learn more about sponsoring and will share with you my amazing experience sponsoring these precious children, which I will pick back up when I return after the Race: their names are Aswini, Hawa, Jenifer, Josue. ***
-If you want to help out, and would like to gift an item for me rather than donate money please contact me by clicking the “contact me” button on the left side of the page and I can give you more information on the specific items that I need (or email me at [email protected]) **

More on DynaPay
Dynapay is an option for donating through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), which allows you to set up a monthly donation through your personal checking account.
Dynapay is strictly for reoccurring donations, one-time donations may not be made through this route.
You can set up your reoccurring donation by going to
http://www.adventuresinmissions.org/dynapay/ and completing the required fields.
Donations through Dynapay typically take 1-2 weeks to be processed and will be withdrawn from your account on either the 3rd or the 18th of the month — you decide.
You may set up an end date for reoccurring donations when you set up your initial DynaPay account. I need to have all funds by April of 2016!
If you do not select an end date you MUST submit a written request (fax, letter, e-mail) to Donor Relations to stop your reoccurring donation. This will NOT happen automatically. A two weeks advance notice must be provided to stop any future reoccurring donations.
IMPORTANT: All donors need to STOP their reoccurring donations after the participant’s 6th month on the field. This is by the end of April 2016 for my race.
There is no processing fee charged when using Dynapay!
When filling out the web page it will ask two questions that are essential in making sure your donation goes toward our trip:
Which person or person to Support: Jen Silverman
Which Program/Department of AIM: World Race
