At training camp, we were taught to have no expectations. Things always change and you cannot depend on your plan or a set system of how things work to get you through.

It’s all about being flexible and willing to do things differently than you are used to. It’s about how to let God mold you and change your heart for Him. 

That being said, what do I expect for the World Race? 

I expect lots of things.

I expect to follow my dreams.

To discover and learn about who I am and what God has for me in life. I expect to grow closer to God. To be used by God. To love others daringly and boldly and for real. 

I expect God to show up in big ways and to work through me for His kingdom and His glory. 

I expect to be amazed!

By his love.

His grace.

His faithfulness.

His miracles. 

I expect to be amazed by God!

I am trusting God in a big way by doing this. Yet I still face fear in some moments when I grasp how big this really is and how little control I have over it. 

But then I can stop and remember to put it in God’s hands again. That He is bigger. That He’s got this. And no matter what my expectations are, He can do far more than I can dream or imagine or think. 

Ephesians 3:20: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”

immeasurable: incapable of being measured; limitless.

God can do immeasurably more than you can dream or think! 

He can do this for you! 

No matter what YOUR dream is or how much you think you OR others can or cannot handle, nothing is too much is God! You are not too much for God! God wants good things for you. He cares about you and takes care of you. 

No matter who or what may have failed you. God’s love never fails. 

Turn to God today if you want unfailing love! 

What else do I expect?

I expect to be broken- to see things and experience emotions that might break me. That might break my heart for God’s people. 

I expect to be made whole again and comforted with His perfect peace that surpasses understanding and to use the same comfort He has given me to comfort others. (2 Corinthians 1:4:  He comforts us every time we have trouble so that when others have trouble, we can comfort them with the same comfort God gives us.)

I expect to be used by God for His purpose as He continues to write my story. He has a unique purpose for all of us. I was so encouraged when a friend spoke this truth to my heart and encouraged me with this gift: 

I expect God to use my story for Him and share this redemption for His glory!

I expect to write from my heart and share my story with you, my dear readers!

I expect to possibly be afraid, if only for a moment when I think of how big this all is and how little I am. But to lean on God and for God to make me brave again.

I expect to be bold and fearless. 

I expect to be changed.

I expect God to change me to shine for Him and care more for Him and His people. 

I expect more than I could dream. 

I expect God to show up. 

To show me His amazing, unfailing love.

To pour this love onto me so I can pour it onto others too. 

I expect vision and new hope and new joy to spring up like a bubbling spring of waters!

I expect to dance.

I expect freedom in Him.

I expect close community that changes you and loves you and believes in you. And speaks hope and life into you. 

And even if I get discouraged in the moment, I expect God to still show up. His love is forever. He will encourage my heart yet again. 

Just as He can do for you. 

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17:  May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope,  encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

God himself will give you eternal encouragement- He will encourage you forever! Not just on the good days or on the weekend or on vacation!

Turn to Him and He will help you.

Our God is a God of hope. 

Proverbs 3:5-7:  Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. Don’t trust in your own wisdom, but fear and respect the Lord and stay away from evil.

 What are your expectations for the journey God has you on now?

Where ever you are, God has a plan for you.

However you feel, God understands and knows your heart and He can give you NEW HOPE!

  • For God to show me regardless of my expectations, He is good and has a perfect plan and He loves me so lavishly, just as He loves you! 

 

 

The possibilities for tomorrow are usually beyond our expectations.
