During training camp for the World Race, we were reminded that though we travel to our first of the 11 countries in January, the first country is really America. And to be present during our time here, to make the most of it and to serve in the ways we are able to right now.
During this time, many are gathered or traveling to gather with family and friends to celebrate being together and the special bonds they share.
Many are aware of the people in need and are doing something to make a difference to help them as we can see in our towns and in our nation by examples like the man, George Dimopoulos, who owns a restaurant, making a Thanksgiving dinner all day for free for people who don’t have anywhere to go or helping to give Thanksgiving baskets to people in need in your town. This is the kind of love in action that really makes a difference for the people who need it.
This is the holiday where soup kitchens and places to volunteer are booked, even more so than Christmas. In reaching out a helping hand this day, it is a reminder of all we have been given and that we can give back and make a true difference in someone else’s life. We are blessed by giving to other people.
Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want.
I trust God to provide for this journey He has called me on. He provides in different ways and provides through the giving of other people. In honor of Thanksgiving, I am going to challenge YOU to be a part of this today!
For a fun, festive twist, take a look at the Thanksgiving Table below and see what you can “bring to the table” in partnering with me on this journey! (Don’t worry- no cooking required- if however, you do wish to cook, cook any dish you’d like and bring it your nearest food pantry, soup kitchen or neighbor in need!) Just click on the name of the dish you’d like to “bring”. (No real food required- it will help to send me to the nations!)
Can you find all the countries below in the names of the dishes? Those are the countries I am going to!
