The day I prayed to not shrink back in fear, but to reach out to someone was the day my prayer was answered.

Hebrews 10:39- But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

When we sat down for the service, the girl I saw looking into the window of the church stood out to me right away.

We sang songs and shared stories about drugs and alcohol and freedom in Christ to the students we were visiting.

There were several children outside, along with the girl, that were looking into the window of the church and they looked in and listened as the stories were shared.

I invited them to come in to listen and urged them several times, but they wanted to stay outside.  I waved to the girl and smiled at her and she smiled back.

A couple of the children giggled when I invited them in and went away from the window for a short time then returned, but the girl stayed.

The stories were shared and the students were encouraged to not worry about what their friends thought, as they were at the age where they could be highly influenced by what their friends around them thought (as we all can be at times).

Then our team was told to go and pray with one of kids who raised their hand to accept Christ or who needed prayer.

I looked around and walked around to see if anyone inside the school needed prayer, but did not see anyone.

I knew who I was supposed to pray for.

The girl outside by the window.

I walked outside into the bright sunshine and there was a group of young boys on bicycles on the side of the building, so I asked them if they wanted to pray. Knowing that it was the girl I was supposed to pray for. They said no.

I walked forward to the window where the girl was still looking in and invited her to come talk with me. We talked outside in front of the building and we tried to communicate despite the language barrier, me trying to use the little Spanish I have picked up.

I asked her if I could pray with her and she came into the building with me so I could find a translator.

One of the guys we worked with translated as I prayed over her at first, then he got someone else to help as well.

She indicated that God had touched her heart in some way.

She received the prayer well and then she gave me a hug!

She was happy that I prayed for her. She sat next to me for the end of the service and I learned her name and got to take a picture with her.

She had such a sweet and gentle spirit.

It was meaningful to take a step forward and trust God even though it didn’t make sense at first and I was a little afraid of stepping out in this way.

But I was so glad I did! God answered my prayer for me not to shrink back, but to step forward boldly.

God gets the glory because He didn’t allow me to shrink back and provided an amazing opportunity.

I was so blessed by the girl who showed a spirit of boldness and faith to pray with someone she didn’t know. Her heart was hungry to know more and to receive from the Lord.

This is how I want to be in my walk with God. Not afraid to step forward and receive all He has for me. Trusting Him and seeking Him with all my heart.

I am currently a little over $2000 away. Please give what you feel led to to join in what God is doing in my heart and life as I serve others and walk forward in faith.

Thank you!

Please pray:

  • That I don’t shrink back when God is calling me to step forward
  • That I love others well
  • That I show grace
  • That I live the full, abundant life He’s called me to
  • For my family’s salvation
  • For my dad, for healing and restoration in Christ
