Y’all. The Lord Is Faithful.
Last week, I shared my recent struggles with trusting Jesus and his timing to not only deliver me through my circumstances in finding a place to live but also with where I needed to work until World Race in January. Not only has God been faithful…but he’s made it pour out blessing over the last 7 days [I feel like I just won like 10 cars on Opera — but seriously].
The blessings we receive have absolutely nothing to do with the receiver but rather the giver. And it got me thinking, how do I give?
The Lord has blessed me in abundance in the last 25 years from the big things like my incredible family and the country I live in — to the little things like God’s smile in a beautiful SC sunset and the sentiments of a sweet friendship. If I have a Father that is so generous, how am I honoring Him with how I give?
Don’t worry friends, we’re not talking money. I’m talking my heart-itude. What’s the condition of my heart when I choose to give? Is it begrudging submission or is it joy in abundance?
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
If I’m really to understand the blessing the Lord has poured out on me this last week, I need to begin to understand His heart and the joy it brings Him each day when I am thankful but I’m also expectant for the day He’s blessed me with and He wants me to use that day.
So I want to commit to be cheerful in giving of my time, my friendships, my words and encouragements, my money, and most of all my love.
This hit home this weekend as I was talking with a friend about their parents and how their perspective has recently shifted in how that person prioritizes their family in their life. It caused me to think, how do I love my parents? How do I love people? Am I cheerful in giving my time wholly to someone or am I distracted by my thoughts, a list, or a text message.
I am BLESSED with the opportunity to choose how I use my gift of time — do I spend it selfishly for me OR do I give my time away to others in a series of moments that I get to share with someone else?
I want to choose joy. I want to choose moments.
Praying for you friends that you may choose generosity of joy with me and that the abundance the Father loves you with is what He also blesses your life with today. Thanks for praying boldly for miracles and journeying with me!
