My notable things to remember from living in Romania for one month:

The egg cracking tradition on Easter which I've never seen in my whole life.

Saying goody goody and caput.  At least a lot by Pastor Raul.

The dogs which are out of control in so many ways.  I've been chased twice and watched Allison get attacked and bit three times.  There are stray dogs all over the world, but not quite like this.

The buses are reminiscent of China – just keep packing them in.  Never say no to a person.

I think storks might not live in America.  I've never seen anything like a stork nest in Romania.  They sit high on traffic lights and are so huge you cannot miss them.

The gypsy homes have the most intriguing building design.  They look a bit spooky like out of a Halloween flick.

Romanian children might be my favorite children in the whole world besides my nieces and nephew.

There seems to be a large distinction between wealth and poverty in the villages we have visited.

The fear of us Americans getting sick is still very present in Romania.  Always wear something to cover your feet and never sit on the ground for you might get sick.

The eagerness of people to pray and speak scripture is unlike any I've experienced.

Whether or not its ok to say gypsy or roma people is kind of a mystery to me still.

There is a happy cemetery that has brightly painted tombstones with funny poems about how the deceased died.

One of my favorite things from Albania, Bulgaria and Serbia is still happening here.  It's this head jiggle from ear to ear that means so so or I don't know and then shaking your head no means yes!  But they have a very distinct style for those who do this.  I love it and have adopted the head jiggle myself.
